Elise Taylor Honored by Sporting KC and Blue KC at Central Middle School

On Tuesday, May 5, Central Middle School welcomed pro soccer player Jake Davis and Sporting Kansas City legend Matt Besler for a special visit honoring Family and Community Engagement Specialist Elise Taylor as April’s Sporting Samaritan Award winner, presented by Sporting KC and Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas City.
Each season, Sporting KC recognizes individuals who make a lasting impact in the Kansas City community.
Ms. Taylor was selected for her dedication to connecting families, schools, and the community through her work in the FACES program.
“The heart of my role is helping bridge the gap between families, the school, and the community,” Taylor shared. “I try to make sure everyone feels connected, heard, and supported.”

Her work focuses on empowering families and strengthening school-community partnerships that support student success and well-being.
This week’s celebration brought that recognition to life at Central Middle School, as students and staff gathered to honor her achievement and impact.
During the visit, students were able to get up close and personal with their special quests, who were willing to sign autographs and take pictures with them.
"I truly appreciate the Good Samaritan honor! I am thrilled that Family and Community Engagement has been put into the spotlight to showcase some of the amazing things that can happen when you make connections between families, school and the community," said Taylor.
